Blogs

I like reading blogs.  I also like to read books.   Currently I am reading

"The Happiness Project".  I have reached the part in the book where she started an on-line blog.

I have this blog but I am not consistent about writing in it.  One of my problems is that I have not decided in which direction I am headed.  When I am reading about nutrition and investigating my current interest in that category, I (temporarily) decide that is what I will write about.  Of course, all the diet books could fall in there too.  Then there is travel.  I am going to Ireland in August.  We have been in the United States on a few occasions but otherwise, I have not made any trips outside Canada.  Some of my 'greats' started out in Ireland so I am looking forward to my adventure.

Then there is my interest in crafts.  I call myself a quilter although I have not been sewing for way too long.  I enjoy knitting and counted cross-stitch as well.  I see how others keep track of what they are working on in their blogs.  Since I have not been very active in any craft, I wouldn't have much to write about.

At this time of year, I enjoy my garden.  Most of my perennials were started in someone else's garden and then gifted to me.  Most of my 'gardening' is puttering.  I move plants around and pull weeds.  I enjoy that but I don't see myself expanding my garden at this stage in my life so there isn't much material to write about there.

Maybe I could write about all these things.  Afterall, it is MY blog.  No one can say I am doing it wrong.  What I choose to write about is for me.

One of the decisions Gretchen Rubin made when she started to blog, was to blog six days a week every week.  Will I make a similar decision?

  1. Hi Judy, Sure was glad to see a post from you pop up in my reader. And then, a few minutes later, you left a comment on my blog!

I like the idea of writing about ALL those things. Looks at it this way - your blog is a reflection of YOU and you are certainly not one-dimensional so why should your writing be? Mine began primarily as a way to help me through losing some weight I'd gained, BUT it was never exclusively about that and more often than not, I take something that's happened during my day and tie it in to something about healthy living or whatever happens to be on my mind that day.

I will also say that expecting to write a post six day a week is aggressive. I started out trying to post every other day and found my writing becoming forced.

Hope to hear from you more frequently!!
