Friday at 8 a.m., my daughter and I will leave Hamilton, ON headed for Halifax, NS. We will spend a week with my sister and brother. We are hoping to see other relatives but one week isn't very long. Daughter is disappointed that she will be unable to see her friend in Saint John, New Brunswick because that area is experiencing an extended lock-down and outsiders are not permitted in.
(Pictures from previous visits back home.)
I will leave my Ontario home tomorrow afternoon and drive to daughter's about two and a half hours away. She lives closer to Hamilton. We will have to leave her place very early Friday morning. Neither of us has been to that particular airport but we are not expecting to have trouble finding it. We will each have a backpack since we don't want to pay extra for luggage. I am hoping the packs fit the requirements as laid out by Swoop (the airline).
This morning I had my annual visit with my optometrist. My glasses are still okay for another year. My eyes have slight changes but nothing earth-shattering.
Today I am finishing up tasks I need to take care of before leaving, like freezing the rest of the pumpkin from cooking up the pie pumpkins from my garden. It was my first time growing pumpkins. I was very happy with my harvest of 15 pumpkins. It was fun to watch them all summer as the vines tried to take over the back yard.
I will relax at daughter's on Thursday. Her husband is working days so he won't be home until after 3. She leaves for her job about 2 and gets home before midnight. We will meet one of my cousins for lunch shortly after we land on Friday. She moved back to Nova Scotia after teaching in British Columbia for a number of years. I don't remember when I saw her last.
I haven't been home since June 2019 when my sister and I spend some time in Newfoundland. What wonderful memories we have of that vacation. It seems like a very long time ago but I know there are other families who have been separated for much longer.

Here's hoping for a pleasant and "normal" trip in these times of caution. Still watching for whatever is going on locally, wherever one goes. My trainer and his wife just got home from a Colorado trip (one state over from us), and he was talking about how they masked up to go into the grocery store up there, and they were the only ones in masks (we have a local mask order going here, until US Thanksgiving). They kept 'em on, anyway.
ReplyDeleteBe safe and have fun!
Thank you. We are still masking in our area. We will be required to keep our masks on while we are on the airplane.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your visit, have a safe and wonderful time!
ReplyDeleteI am driving to Florida this week to see my cousin. I usually visit 2x a year, but like everyone else....COVID!
I'm not too inclined to fly in the US at the moment.
