It is Thanksgiving Day here in Canada. I think I am a thankful person but on a day like today it is good to think about some of the things for which I can be thankful.
I am healthy. I need no medication. I can move. (I really should write about my half marathon because I will want to look back and remember.)
I have a loving husband and three happy, healthy adult 'children'. They are all married and have jobs. We have five wonderful grandchildren.
We have our own home. We have vehicles to transport us to places we want to go. We have 'toys' like the motorcycle.
Every morning when I get up and look out the bedroom window, I can see my garden. It may not be as pretty as some gardens I have seen but I enjoy working in my garden and trying to make it better. Just this morning I froze some of the tomatoes from our plants. I am thankful for the sun and the rain that helped them grow.
I am thankful for the seasons. While winter may not be my favourite time of year, there are no bugs to contend with.
Yes, I am thankful for the many blessings we enjoy.

Hi Judy, Hope you have fun in the Smokies... Here are some places to visit with no hiking involved: Cades Cove enjoying the drive along Little River Road between Gatlinburg and Cades Cove; Highway 441 between Gatlinburg and Cherokee with a stop on top at Newfound Gap and/or Clingman's Dome; a drive up Roaring Fork Rd from Stoplight 8 in Gatlinburg is a neat drive into the mountains; a stop at the Sugarland Visitor Center near Gatlinburg will give you lots of ideas/maps, etc...
ReplyDeleteGatlinburg is a neat town with tons of shops and restaurants. There is a tram if you want to go up to the ski lodge. There are also lots of other 'touristy' things to do depending upon what you are looking for. We love the mountains for the mountains --and not so much for the shops/water slides and other things to do. BUT--there are tons of things to do in that area for ALL ages.
The adjoining towns (Pigeon Forge and Sevierville) are also filled with lots and lots of options of things to do. There's Dollywood, a Titanic Exhibit, lots of musical theater places, etc. The two restaurants in my blog post are two of our favorites.
IF you want to do some hiking or seeing a waterfall, many people enjoy Laurel Falls (on Little River Road between Gatlinburg and Cades Cove). There are many other great hikes and many waterfalls in the mountains.. Again ---check at the Visitor Center for ideas/options... Even at the Visitor Center, there is a short walk to a small waterfall, Cataract Falls.
IF you have any other questions, please let us know. HAVE fun in our area of the country.
Hugs,
Betsy
