On Sunday Daughter and I left Ontario for the drive to Tennessee. The border crossing was very smooth and we were early enough that the traffic on the freeway was not heavy. We stopped at Bob Evans for breakfast. I think we were still in Ohio.
In the afternoon, we made a stop in Corbin, Kentucky. We had read that Kentucky Fried Chicken orginated in Corbin. We found Colonel Sanders' restaurant and K. had her picture taken with the Colonel. We didn't have any chicken, we just needed to get out of the car for a bit and walk around.
We continued on to Tennessee. We saw a terrible traffic jam on I-75 heading north. It went on for miles. We hope that is cleared up before we have to head home. Our drive went very well. I am truly blessed to have my daughter who was willing and able to fill in for her dad and take me away, including doing all the driving.
We stopped in Sevierville, TN for the night. We wanted to eat somewhere we could walk to and that was the Hard Rock Cafe.
We both enjoyed our meal. We had a very nice server who checked on us frequently and told us about his family. (They were not very busy that night.) The temperature had cooled a bit which made our walk back to the motel more enjoyable. Remember, the temperature was 32* when we left the house in Ontario and it was now close to 80* when we stopped for the night in Tennessee. That takes some getting used to.
We both were ready to turn in by 10 and we both slept well.
to be continued...
