Surprises and Snow

I commented on a friend's blog today and then decided to check my own space.  I was surprised (as always) to see how much time had passed since my last entry.  It was the end of October.  Surely I could have written about something in the days since.  I was even more surprised to find a couple comments - appreciated comments.  I guess I do like to know that someone has read what I wrote.  My husband is encouraging.  I wrote a note to accompany a gift I gave one of my granddaughters at Christmas and he liked my words.

Most of my life I have been a quiet person.  Usually others say what I am thinking and I don't bother adding anything.  As I am getting older and more comfortable with other people and myself, I am learning to sometimes speak but I still hear comments about how quiet I am.  I don't think silence is a bad thing and don't let the comments bother me.

I am going to see if I can learn more about blogging.

Next topic - Do we have snow?

Today (Saturday) is slightly milder than it has been all week.  We are waiting to see if we will get more snow or will it be rain?  Before this morning we wanted the snow to hold off because our daughter and son-in-law are flying to Florida for a week.  They have tickets to a hockey game in Tampa tonight so we didn't want any delays.  They got across the border okay and she sent a message from the airport that they were waiting to board.  So far everything is going well.  I trust they will have a good week.  Their dog, Tucker, is quite happy with us except that he doesn't get quite as much exercise as he does with his dad.

Back to the subject of snow, here are some pictures from one week ago when our area got record snowfall.

I took these from the back door Sunday afternoon.  It was a good day to stay home.  Although we live close to the church, we didn't go.  The annual meeting that was scheduled for Monday night (Feb. 2) was put off until February 9.

Groundhog Day (February 2) was bright and sunny.  It was a beautiful day.  It was also a 'snow day' which means there was no school.  Most things were called off as people worked to dig out.  Hubby is very thankful for his little snowblower.  He used it a couple times on Sunday to try to stay ahead of the snow.   Our neighbour has a bigger machine.  He also did our driveway when he was out doing his own.
The trees and bushes are very pretty with their loads of snow.
The tree in front of our neighbour's home.  The plow from the town was out during the night and left that pile of snow.
I was working my way to the front door.
After I finished shoveling the sidewalk.
Hubby was still working on the driveway.  We like to have some of the blacktop exposed so that the sun can work its magic and start melting what we leave behind.

And now we wait to see if there will be more.
