Vacation Going Well

It Is Cold

Sunday, June 28, 2015

Coming from southern Ontario where it is usually sunny and hot to an area of the Maritimes that has been chilly since we got here, makes it hard to adjust. Saturday when the sun was out it got warm and it was comfortable. We are staying with my sister in an old farmhouse that is often cold. Today it is cloudy and we are expecting rain at some point. After hearing about the heavy rain back in Ontario yesterday (my son said he was building an ark), we aren't sure what to expect.

In spite of all that, we are enjoying our time here. Saturday afternoon my sister and I were able to walk on the beach and look for sea glass for her and shells for me. The tide was out and the sun was shining and it was a good afternoon. Hubby borrowed my brother's motorcycle, (we both brought our helmets) so he was happy.

We happened to see this outfit in the parking lot at the Fossil Center and thought it looked 'neat'.

Hubby with my brother's bike. The tide is out behind him.

My Exciting Morning

Tuesday, June 30, 2015

The last couple of mornings I was up early to go for a walk. Yesterday the mosquitos almost drove me crazy before I got back to the house. Today I remembered to wear some Bugzz Away repellant.

I enjoy my walks. This is the area where I grew up. I like to see the changes and remember the people I knew.

It is also interesting to observe nature. I saw ears sticking up in a clump of grass and then watched as a bunny took off. There were three yellow birds fighting and flying from branch to branch. But the highlight of the morning was seeing a bear. My brother had shown me a picture of the one he saw when he was in the woods on his ATV the other morning. I had my phone with me but it takes me too much time to find the camera app and then I don't have zoom which I use a lot on my digital camera. Of course my camera was back at the house. I didn't have pockets and don't like carrying things in my hands. You can be sure that will not stop me from carrying it next time I head up that way.

Anyway, the bear came from the bushes at the side of the road ahead of me. He calmly walked to the other side of the road and into the woods. He looked neither left nor right so I don't think he saw me. Apparently fear of bears keeps many from walking on that road. My husband couldn't believe that I kept walking but I did. It was the first time I have seen a bear. I wish I had his picture.
