Boyne City, Michigan - temperature 65*F/18*C. Not bad for November 7. I understand the county school buses back home did not run because of fog this morning.
We drove into Boyne City to find some breakfast.

Getting some food helped. Then we had strength to walk around and do some window shopping. Some places are closed for the season. You can tell it must be very busy in the summer. Because it was so nice today, it was easy to pretend it was summer. We found a grocery store and got a few things to bring back to our room. Hubby stocked up on diet Vernors. Apparently he cannot find it back in Canada. There is regular but not diet. The exchange on the money is not favorable these days so we didn't do much shopping other than a bathing suit for Himself because he forgot his at home and he wanted to go in the hot tub.
From Boyne City, we drove to Charlevoix, another city on the water. Again we followed the sidewalk up one side of the street and down the other. Back in the car, we headed back to our lodgings. We got off the main highway and enjoyed a drive on back roads, always our favorite.
Himself changed into his new bathing suit and headed to the hot tub. It isn't far from our room. I took the opportunity to go for my walk. I got my mile in. In winter you can ski here so I got some hill-walking in. It isn't particularly fun walking. My preference would be to find a trail like I saw a couple times this morning but I did my time and kept the streak alive.

Tuesday, Mackinaw City
Tuesday, November 08, 2016
We woke up to a much different day. The temperature was a least 10* cooler and it is raining. Sometimes it rained quite hard. We had to sit through a time-share 'lecture' at 9. I was glad it was scheduled for today and not yesterday. I would have hated to waste such a beautiful day inside. We declined all their offers and they gave us an $80 mastercard for our time. We used $30 for lunch.
We got in the van for our drive to Mackinaw City. We took a scenic route. We saw some beautiful homes and because of their location, I suspect they are summer homes. We drove through the Tunnel of Trees.
I had not heard of it before. This picture is from Google. The trees are very bare now. I have never seen so many leaves on the ground. Because it is off season, there wasn't any traffic which made the drive on the twisty road more enjoyable.
By the time we got to Mackinaw City, we were quite ready for some lunch. It is hard to find a place that is open. We decided to try the Key Hole Bar and Grill. Lunch was very good.
After lunch we were both more than ready to head back. It was too wet and miserable for walking around. Himself had a brief nap while I drove. Back home we had a cup of tea to help warm us up.
I knew I wouldn't walk outside so I headed to the treadmill. I walked for 30 minutes and covered 1 1/2 miles. I really like their treadmill. Himself was already in the hot tub when I finished my walk so I got in to relax my muscles too.
I don't know where we will go tomorrow.

Wednesday, Petoskey
Wednesday, November 09, 2016
This morning we ate breakfast (poached eggs on toast) before we left for today's exploration. We drove to Petoskey which appears to be a growing city.
First stop was Hobby Lobby. I got excited to think that Himself would stop there. It turns out he didn't know what type of store it was. He thought there would be model boats and trains. I did get to walk around the inside perimeter before he pulled me out.
Next we stopped at a sporting goods store. He is looking for a Detroit Lions jersey for our daughter. He found one but the price was similar to what he would pay at home. BUT, while he was there, I got to do a walk-through at Joanne's Fabrics. I had a bit more time but I didn't buy anything.
We went to Applebee's for lunch. I had a nice Thai Shrimp Salad. It was good but for one of the few times ever, I left food on my plate. Himself couldn't believe what he was seeing. (I did make sure I got all the shrimp. )
Back to our room. We finished spending the rest of the mastercard on gas for the van. While he took his nap, I went for my walk. I walked partway up one of the ski slopes. I saw some tracks and wondered if there are deer in the area. Shortly after, I got my answer. They are beautiful creatures.
