Catching Up

Thursday morning I went to my exercise class. It was good. Afterward, I went for lunch with my girlfriend. Himself joined us. That was okay. We had a nice visit.
At 2:30 we had an appointment in the next town to pick up new hearing aids for Himself.
That appointment went well and he is very happy with the new aids.
On our way back to our house, he complained about heartburn. That is not an unusual complaint for him. Anyway, after supper it was no better. He went to see his doctor. The doctor suggested he might be suffering from angina and that he should go to the hospital. Back home, he sat down for a bit to see if the pain got any better or worse. Finally he decided he should go to the hospital and get checked. It was a quiet evening at the hospital but there is still waiting involved. The doctor on call decided Himself should stay and have more tests, one of which is to wear a heart monitor. At the first of the week, an ambulance will take him to the city for an angiogram. They are saying it could be Monday or Tuesday.
We are puzzled because the pain has subsided. It is the weekend and normally they send everyone home who can go. He is walking around and appears 'normal'. Because he is not now feeling ill, I think he is enjoying the attention.
Back to Thursday night - it sure is quiet on the streets at 2:30 a.m. I guess that would actually be Friday morning. I may have seen one car near Kingsville. The salt truck was out because there had been flurries earlier. By the time I got home, I was too wired to sleep. It was probably close to 4 before I did. If I had the capability to sleep in I would have but I was awake close to my usual time and dragged around until I got a call from Himself with a list of things he wanted me to bring. Fortunately, he had his book as he usually carries a book to read when he goes for medical appointments.
I went back again today about noon and stayed until 4:30. Our second son and one of his daughters came for a visit. Our daughter and her husband are home this weekend to go to a hockey game tonight. They stopped to see Himself yesterday on their way through that town. They will stop again tomorrow morning on their way home. So far I have been unable to reach our oldest son to let him know his father is in the hospital. He doesn't have a cell phone and they are not answering the house phone. That is making me wonder if something is going on at his house.
In the meantime, I am looking forward to a good sleep tonight. I am still tired from what I missed the first night. Today the weather was mild. I would have enjoyed a nice walk if I had been home. Life is certainly not dull.
[Update: I finally got through to our oldest. He is on midnights and had the ringer turned off on the phone.]

It has been a long day of waiting, longer for Himself, I am sure. He was supposed to go by ambulance to the city for his angiogram at 1 p.m. They didn't pick him up until 2. That last hour was hard.
I was home by 4. (I stopped to get something to eat at my favourite restaurant. My food has been terrible this week.) Around 5 our son who lives in Windsor offered to go to the hospital to see if he could find out anything. He saw Himself who was still waiting with others for the test. The staff could not give Brian any indication of when it would take place. Himself told son to tell me he would call when he could. (I expect that wait was even worse than the wait for the ambulance to get him because he didn't have his phone or book or even his watch as he could not take anything with him.)
Anyway, about 7:45 he called to say the test was done. He doesn't need any further treatment. They will take him back to Leamington. He will call me from there and I will bring him home. All is well.
