Vacation Pictures

Someone asked for some pictures from Nova Scotia. The internet is slow here but I will see what I can do.

Friday afternoon we visited Heritage Models because it was closing for the season on September 1. www.heritagemodelsmuseum
.ca/
From the website: "Reginald "Bud" Johnston devoted 30 years of his life to preserving our community through miniature models that are built to 1/12th scale. Bud received many awards for his work on the models, which he donated to the community of River Hebert. The models were originally displayed on Bud's front lawn. The Museum opened in 1991."
I didn't take many pictures at the museum but my sister and I spent time walking around and remembering. Some of the buildings are now gone. We are grateful for Bud's talent in preserving local history. We were the only ones looking so we had a good time.
From there we drove to Lower Cove. Lower Cove was the site of a booming quarry and grindstone producing industry long before the early 20th century industrial boom in the more populated areas of Cumberland County.
When we were growing up, Lower Cove is where you went to cool off on a hot day. Sometimes you didn't even have to go in the water because the air was so much cooler than it was at home and it was only about 10 minutes away. Dad would come in from haying and say, "Let's go swimming".
Friday was warm enough for swimming. The tide was in while we were there and we saw people in the water. I didn't bring a bathing suit on this trip so going in the water was out for me. We did walk along the beach and manage to find some beach glass. It was a lovely afternoon.

Trueman Blueberry Farms
Friday, September 07, 2018
One afternoon, my sister and I drove to Trueman Blueberry Farms in Aulac, New Brunswick. www.truemanblueb
erryfarms.com/ She had been there with a friend and wanted me to see the sunflowers. It was beautiful. There is a sunflower maze you can pay to walk through. We just watched the head-tops of those going through.

this haybale playground is available to climb on.

There is ice cream available and a bakery offers homemade blueberry pies and molasses brown bread but we didn't even tempt ourselves by looking. We were happy to see the flowers and watch children enjoying the freedom to run around.
