September 2017 Bus Trip

Mini Vacation

Sunday, September 24, 2017

We were up early this morning to catch a bus. We have friends who have taken bus tours and had a good time. We decided it was time to see what it is like.

We booked with a travel agency to travel to Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario. We had to be at the car park at 6:30 for the first pick-up. There was a second stop in Windsor for the majority of the other passengers. I think we are 26 altogether. Unfortunately, someone missed the bus. We waited for 15 minutes. We had to leave because we wanted to get through the Windsor Tunnel before traffic started getting heavier.

We were unsure what to expect when we crossed the border into the US. We were told that sometimes everything we brought onto the bus would have to be scanned. And, if there happened to be another bus or two, it could be a long process. We got lucky this morning. We only had to take our carry-on bags through and we were the only bus at that time so it was quick.

Traffic was light and we made good time. We stopped at a Bob Evans about 11:30. It was a welcome break. I'm sure the busdriver would agree.

I'm not sure exactly what time it was when we came back into Canada but the driver and our director were both pleased at how well the day had gone for us.

Our first stop was the Canadian Bushplane Heritage Centre www.bushplane.com/
That was more interesting than I expected it would be. We had a very nice guide.

Our next stop was Days Inn, our home for the next two nights.

It is another early night because we have to be up early to get breakfast. Tomorrow we are taking a one-day rail adventure into the heart of the Canadian Wilderness. We are going to Agawa Canyon by train.

At this time of year, everyone is hoping to see some colourful trees. It will be an all-day adventure. We will be having lunch (pre-ordered) on the train. I hope to get some pictures.
