Therapy

Last month, I saw this shirt on Facebook.
Right away I wanted one but I did not want to spend what they wanted to get it, so I saved a picture.
This week I made my plans for my alternate therapy - I am going home to Nova Scotia.
Just how did this Maritime girl end up in Ontario? When I was working in Halifax, way back in the 60's, I met a sailor who happened to come from Windsor, Ontario. We got married and had two sons (the second one is celebrating his birthday today). Himself did not like being away from his family so much because his ship went to sea a lot so the decision was made not to re-enlist. We moved to Ontario because he felt he had a better chance of finding a job. I was not thrilled to be leaving 'home' but over time I have re-adjusted. Our daughter was born in Windsor.
When we were making our plans to leave Nova Scotia, Himself promised my father that the children and I would come home once a year. The promise was kept. Until I had to pay for the boys, we flew. Sometimes if his vacation was right, we drove. We took the train a time or two. If we made it to Nova Scotia, my father helped pay for the return trip.
Dad and Mom are both gone now but my sister lives in the family home and my brother is right next door. Next Wednesday morning at 5:30, I am boarding a train and heading home for a couple weeks. I won't arrive in Amherst until Thursday afternoon and usually the train is late but my sister will be waiting for me. We will have a good time together. I am hoping to maybe meet a couple Spark friends I haven't met in person yet. Meeting other Sparks is something I look forward to.

Vacation

Here I sit in the 'cage' (screened portion of the verandah) because this is one of the places my laptop will connect to the internet. I am wearing a sweater because the early morning is cooler than I am used to after the hot Ontario summer we have endured. My train ride was good. The train left Windsor (ON) at 5:30 Wednesday morning. Of course there were stops along the way.
In Toronto, while we waited to board the train to Montreal, the announcement came that boarding would be delayed because there was a mechanical problem. We left Toronto about 2 hours late. That may have been a problem for some but it wasn't for me.
The lights were turned down about 9:30. I managed to sleep more than I expected to. I was thankful about that. I woke up early but kept dozing off. I had carried food with me and finished my peanut butter sandwich when the coffee cart came around.
I forgot my phone charging cord so I could not charge my phone but before the phone died, I was able to send a text to my sister to let her know the train expected to arrive in Moncton (NB) about 2 p.m. Thursday afternoon. She was waiting for me. It seemed I had to walk the length of the train to get to the terminal but after sitting for 2 days, I needed the exercise.
Overall it was a good trip. The bonus comes when I book my return trip. Because of the delay in Toronto, I will get 50% off my next booking.

Our family home where I am staying for almost 2 weeks. The other house is where my brother lives. The 'cage' is below the upstairs window in the middle of the picture.
