Canada Day 2016

Happy 149th birthday Canada!! I wonder how we will celebrate your 150th next year.
The day started with the welcome sound of rain falling. We had a brief shower about a week ago. Today was much better. I think it might have rained for about an hour. It was nice and steady. I did not mind that it stopped after breakfast before we left for Amherstburg.
Today was the Canada D'Eh 5k in Amherstburg. We start in front of Fort Malden where someone shoots a musket as our starting gun.
We were told there were 1200 runners and walkers taking part as well as the children who have their run before we start.
At my stage of life, I am not expecting to get any faster. I am happy if I don't get slower. Today I was 2 seconds slower than Canada Day 2014. (We were away last year.) I can live with that. July 1, 2013 was my first 5k. Today I was 5 minutes quicker than I was that day. Today I was also feeling better at the end.
I also liked that there were enough people that I didn't have to be last or second-last.
Later, we will be going to a graduation/birthday BBQ at our son's. His youngest daughter graduated grade 8, his son graduated high school and his oldest turns 21 on the 10th. We enjoy spending time with them.
