On November 12, early in the morning we left Ontario to begin our drive to Charleston, South Carolina, to catch the Carnival Fantasy on November 15. We had a good trip. We stopped the first night in Statesville, North Carolina.
Next morning, we continued on our journey. We got to Charleston late in the afternoon and looked for a place to stay for a couple nights. We stayed in Mount Pleasant which is just over the bridge to Charleston.
After unloading the car, we did some sight-seeing. With darkness setting in so early at this time of year, that didn't last very long. We went to Applebee's and then went 'home' to watch some TV and relax.
On Friday, we spent some time at Mt. Pleasant Memorial Waterfront Park. I could have spent much longer there but that isn't usually an option when there is much to see and little time to see it.

From there we went to Patriots Point Naval and Maritime Museum. When one is married to a former navy man, she get accustomed to looking at boats and hearing sea stories.

Next was Charleston. One could spend days there. Even though it was the middle of November, there were still plenty of tourists.

While we were looking at this statue, we met a couple who was taking the same cruise as us. I did run into the lady a couple of times on the boat.

One of the options is to take a buggy ride. It was very chilly that day. Most of the people were wrapped in blankets while they listened to their tour guides.

We had lunch at Eli's Table and then went to the Old Slave Mart Museum

We were not allowed to take pictures inside.
We did some more driving up and down streets. I was surprised at how patient most drivers were. I expect that most are other tourists. It must get frustrating for the people who live there but then perhaps it is just a slower way of life.
Saturday morning we had some time to kill because the cruise line didn't want anyone there too early. They have to get the people from the previous cruise off-loaded before we can start getting on. We were surprised that our cars were parked inside a huge warehouse-like building. At other ports we have visited, the car stays outside for the week. There were several shuttle buses to take us from the garage to the boat. I think it was about 1 p.m. by the time we were on and could start looking around the ship, after eating lunch of course.
The first 'event' is the safety briefing so that everyone knows where to go in case of a problem. After the all clear, we set sail.

It was a lovely evening although a bit chilly. We requested an extra blanket at bedtime.

Sunday and Monday were days at sea.

Sunday was the first of two dress-up nights. We attempted to get our picture in the mirror before leaving our room. There were many elegant looking people. Of course there are photographers willing to take pictures but we did not purchase any.
