Daughter Vacation Thursday, Laurel Falls
Wednesday, May 04, 2016
From the 'Great Smoky Mountains National Park' information book: "This paved trail is the most popular waterfall trail in the park. It passes through a pine and oak forest." Round-Trip distance: 2.5 miles
On our last day, we headed to Laurel Falls.

As we drove out of downtown Gatlinburg into the National Park, we could see why they are called 'smoky' mountains.

We had missed getting a picture of the National Park sign and Daughter wanted one so we stopped.

We took the Laurel Falls trail

We don't know what this flower is but it was pretty.

Daughter walked behind me. She said it was so that I could not push her over.
I suggested there was more danger for husband/wife teams.

Laurel Falls

Of course there was the usual passing of phones for pictures.

Because this hike was shorter, we were finished quicker. We took in a wild flower hike with a guide.

I had wondered if there is poison ivy in Tennessee. The guide told us she had tangled with it and ended up in the hospital. I have to watch for it too. Every time I come in contact, it is worse for me than the time before.

White trillium is the provincial flower for Ontario. This is another type of trillium.

I forget what this is called.

This is the restaurant where we had lunch - Mountain Lodge Restaurant. It is open for breakfast and lunch. A lady on the trolley we took on Monday recommended it and since it was close to home, we decided to give it a try. We both had French onion soup so that we could have peach cobbler. So good.
We spent the afternoon in the pool, relaxing before our trip back to Ontario on Friday.
