Take It on the Road

Yes, I know I have missed blogging for several days but I am moving along with The Beck Diet Solution.
Today's lesson is timely because we are going away for a week, leaving on Friday. Unlike most Canadians who head south when it is cold, we are heading northward to a place called Calabogie which is about 90 minutes from Ottawa. Our daughter made arrangements for us to stay at a resort in that community. We are looking forward to exploring a new-to-us area of Ontario.
We will have a kitchen so I have been mentally preparing meals. Travel can be challenging for dieters but I will do my best. This morning when I stepped on the scale, I was down one pound since the beginning of March. I want to be down at least another pound at the beginning of May.

Taking a Break from Beck

We left home Thursday morning for the 2 1/2 hour drive to our daughter's. On the way, we made a stop for Himself to complete the deal for his new-to-him Spyder. He is like a kid with a new toy which of course is true. We accompanied the previous owner to the bank to take care of business, checked in to see that the safety check was done and then went for the licence plate. After all that, we went back to pick up his new toy. He was wearing snowmobile pants and lots of winter 'stuff' to stay warm. He said he was fine for the half hour ride between the dealer where the safety was done and our daughter's garage where the Spyder will stay until it is warm enough to ride it home.
This is what it looks like. He has pictures of his on his phone but I don't have any yet. Ours does have a backrest for the passenger.
Thursday was a nice day. The roads were clear and dry. It was our plan to leave daughter's at 7 Friday morning when she left for work, hoping to avoid Toronto traffic. Friday morning when I got up, I saw moisture on the dogs' backs. I went to look out the window to see snow falling. So much for clear and dry.

We didn't know what to. No one wants to be on the 401 highway during a storm. I called the Lodge where we had our reservation and explained our problem. She said it wasn't snowing there but she understood. The forecast said they were going to get snow later in the day. We decided to stay put.
About 10, the snow was stopping in Aylmer. We decided to head out and see how things were. It was okay. The highway was wet which meant the windshield wipers were kept busy because of the spray from the other vehicles but the only snow we saw was on the shoulders and it was warm enough that things were not freezing.
We stopped for lunch in Peterborough and for coffee a couple times more for a break from driving than because we needed coffee. It was between 6:30 and 7:00 when we finally reached Calabogie Lodge Resort. calabogielodge.c

We moved into our rooms. This place must be incredible in the summer. We can see the lake from our living room and bedroom. We have a deck that can be reached from either room (although we haven't figured out how to open the living room door.) My only complaint so far is that it is far too warm. Himself is quite happy because he is always cold.
That building is the office. The pool, exercise room, game room and a small restaurant are also housed there.
Wouldn't it be a nice spot for morning coffee in better weather?
I'm sure I will have more pictures as the week goes on. On Sunday we are going to Ottawa to visit my uncle and aunt. He will be taking us out for lunch.
