A Week in July 2016

July 18-23

How quickly memories fade. I decided to write about my week and here I sit trying to remember what I did each day.

Monday night Hubby's friend from his navy days died in hospital. We knew the end was coming quickly but it was still shock to Hubby. Joe was 69.

Tuesday morning I am one of the receptionists at the new Hospice in Leamington. There are two of us manning the door from 8 until noon. The friend I had been working with since the house opened in the spring has gone to Alberta for maybe a year. Her son and grandchildren are out there. Missionaries who will be home for several months will be living in her house here which is one of the reasons she chose to be away now. She was with me a week ago but this Tuesday I met my new partner. We got along well and spent a good part of the morning getting acquainted.

Tuesday night we went to Detroit for a ballgame. Our daughter got tickets recently when the Tigers were offering them for $7.50. Hubby drove and we took our daughter and son-in-law, our son and granddaughter. We had good seats and had a good time together. Unfortunately the Tigers lost.

(Daughter took this picture so she is not in it. Son-in-law, granddaughter, son, me and Himself.)

Sometime on Tuesday, I started to get a toothache. Wednesday, the pain was terrible. I already had an dentist appointment scheduled for Thursday afternoon for something else so I did not have to be squeezed in as an emergency. I had infection; she did a root canal; and I started to improve almost immediately. Today (Sunday) I am feeling almost normal [whatever that is] again.

Saturday afternoon we attended the wedding of an older couple. It was nice. It was in the city. There was time to fill in between the ceremony and the reception. It was too hot to go anywhere to do anything so we parked in a coffee shop with our books and cool drink for awhile. Later we joined friends at the reception and had a good time. We don't handle late nights like we did in our younger days. We slept in this morning and are 'dragging' a bit more than usual.

There is still no word on when Himself will have his surgery. I think he is planning to call on Monday to see if we can find out.
