Shipshewana, Indiana

I was reminded, that I haven't shared my quilting weekend. So, here goes. This could get long.
On Thursday morning, Himself and I left around 9. We got stuck on Ambassador Bridge (the one between Windsor and Detroit) for an hour. It was soooo slow. Once we got to Detroit, we decided to take the scenic route which was Michigan Avenue. It was a pleasant drive through the small Michigan towns. Eventually we found Shipshewana and Farmstead Inn.

It has grown since the last time we were there.
We checked in, unloaded the van and looked around. I found the room where we were holding our reunion. Most had already arrived. I found a spot at one of the tables and got set up. Of course we had lots of hugs all round.
Thursday night, one couple (who could not attend at the last minute because of ill health) had arranged for us to have a catered meal right in our meeting room. There was so much food. We divided the leftovers and each took packages to store in our mini-fridges to have for lunch on Friday.
We had a game director. She had prepared different games for each evening. Thursday night's game was her variation of the Left Right game that is sometimes played at Christmas parties. She had written a story about our group with the Left/Right cues throughout. Before the gathering she had told us to bring gifts to exchange. It was a lot of fun.
There was a continental breakfast every morning. Friday, I was among the first up. There were only two up ahead of me. I left Ted snoring in our room.
Later, Ted and I took a ride downtown. Many had gone on shopping/looking around trips. Himself and I shared a pretzel from Jo Jo's Pretzels. We had heard about them but had not tried one before. You could watch them being made and enjoy one fresh from the oven.
In the afternoon, I actually sewed some squares together.
Because most were flying in with limited space, we didn't have a big show and tell like previous years. One girl who drove brought a quilt that she had finished. It was lovely.

Friday we went to Das Dutchman Essenhaus for supper. What a busy place.
Saturday, I was able to go with 3 others to check out a couple stores. Ted had brought his bicycle and he went for a ride around town. (There was one other husband with our group but he took off to Michigan on Friday to visit their son. He came back Sat. night because they were flying out on Sunday.)
Saturday afternoon one of the ladies (who is also one of my Fitbit pals) and I took a walk. She wanted to get some things for her lunch for the next day when she was flying to Colorado Springs. I found some black currant jelly for my two boys. That night we ate downtown at Blue Gate Restaurant.
And all too soon, it was Sunday morning. One of the girls left Sat. night after the game. She said she wanted to travel when it was cooler because her air conditioning was broken. She drove to Rockford, Illinois.
Sunday, there were lots more hugs as we said our good byes. Fortunately, no one had to leave early. Two or three were staying until Monday. Ted and I got away by 10. This time we took the toll road. Again we got stuck on Ambassador Bridge for over an hour. Once we were over, the first stop was at McDonald's to use the bathroom and then on home.
It was a fabulous weekend.
