Canada Day
Monday, July 01, 2013
I was up early (for me). Today is Canada Day and last Friday I finally made the decision to sign up for the Official Canada D'Eh 5K Run in Amherstburg. Of course I was walking, not running, but I was still excited to be taking part.
Hubby was going to drive me which pleased me because I would not have to be concerned about parking, etc. but this morning, he decided he was going to stay home to cut the grass. I got over my disappointment. It would have been nice to know I had support but there were people at the site who had plenty of enthusiasm to share.
It was a beautiful day for the event. Rain was threatening but it held off. There was a nice breeze from the lake which helped cool us as we heated up. A little boy had his table set up with cups of water after we passed the halfway mark.
I remember arriving at the last corner. There was an older gentleman there. He told me I was almost finished and I could take it easy the rest of the day. I thanked him and said I would probably do just that.

All finishers get an amazing Canada D’Eh Run Maple Leaf collectors Medal along with Canada D’Eh Maple Leaf inspired red and white sublimated tech running socks. This years medal features the likeness of Sir John A MacDonald, our nations first Prime Minister.
I am pleased to report that I finished. I was almost dead last but that didn't even matter. This was the first time I have actually done something like this but I am thinking I might do it again.
