Our Vacation

My husband is retired but he still works part-time. He has been on vacation the last couple weeks. Last week we did some traveling inside our own province and visited with friends and family. The weather was good and we both had a good time. I was NOT disappointed that we decided to travel by car rather than on the motorcycle which would be his first choice.
This is a picture I took the first night we spent with our friends. They took us to a high place that overlooked the town and some water but I captured this as we were returning to the car.

We left the cottage Thursday morning and drove through Algonquin Park. We were a bit disappointed that the leaves were just starting to turn so there wasn't much colour yet but we enjoyed the drive anyway.
On Friday we visited Upper Canada Village and spent the day there. I really enjoyed the day. I posted most of my pictures on Facebook.

We stayed with my nephew's family Thurs, Fri, and Sat. My sister is with them right now, helping with their four children while they are waiting for the newest baby to be born. We hadn't seen my sister since last summer just before she left to spend the school year in Moscow so it was good to have a chance to catch up.
Sunday morning as they were leaving for church, we started our journey home.
We stopped in Ganaoque to take the one-hour cruise around the 1000 Islands.

It was a lovely day, although a bit cool on the water. We both enjoyed the mini-cruise. I enjoyed day-dreaming about which island I would want to spend my summers on.
The worst part of the whole adventure was driving through Toronto. The traffic seems to be worse every time we have to do it. We managed to be there about 6 Sunday evening but eventually were able to make it to our next destination - Niagara Falls. We stayed in a motel overnight and then drove to our daughter's on Monday to get our dog, Buddy.

Buddy is the smaller dog. I think he was glad to see us. He slept all the way home. Tucker (the black lab) is younger and full of energy so Buddy was tired.
Our two granddaughters kept our other dog. Wiggles was happy to see us too.
So we are all back at home. We had a good week away but there is no place like home.
