I know it has been hot in most of the rest of the country, but Saturday was the first day since I arrived that I felt the heat here.
My sister spent most of the morning preparing her 'Christmas in July' celebration for her son and his family who came Saturday afternoon. (Sister is getting ready to go overseas for a year, teaching in a Christian school and won't be in Canada for Christmas. She already had 'Christmas' with her other son when she was in Ottawa.)
After my nephew's family arrived and we had a visit, we took a walk to the field across from the house to check the grape vines my brother is growing experimentally.

As I said earlier, it was a hot day. We knew exactly where to go to cool off - Lower Cove. That is where we usually head if it is too warm. Sometimes we don't even have to go all the way to the shore - the fog and coolness reach us first.
When we got there, the tide was coming in.

We walked out to meet it. I wasn't prepared to go in the water but I got my feet wet. Mostly we walked on the beach checking the rocks and looking for sea glass or shells. I did find one fossil (the area is known for fossils).

Joggins jogginsfossilcliffs.net/ is a bit further down the shore.
The tide was coming in quickly and with it the fog. We were very cool by now and decided it was time to return home. It was almost suppertime.
We relaxed after supper. There were some small gifts exchanged. There was even something for me. My sister is very thoughtful.
We were relaxing on the verandah and watching the sky. It was quite interesting to say the least.

None of my pictures show what we saw. The shades of pink were incredible and then the sky got quite dark and menacing. The wind picked up but there was no storm.
